Get Connected by Serving
Attending a new church can be an overwhelming endeavor. The Free Christian Church Connecting Ministries Team is a group of faithful volunteers who welcome and serve all who enter our doors. We help people feel comfortable and part of our community by connecting them to the individual or group that will meet their needs.
On Sundays you will encounter our volunteers in the Sanctuary as ushers, in the Rotunda serving coffee and at the Welcome Desk where you can pick up informational material to take home with you and get your immediate questions answered. At home, you may receive an email or telephone call in response to the tear off sheet you filled out and placed in the collection plate on Sunday.
Do you feel called to serve alongside us?
Connecting Ministries is continuing to build its team. Volunteer once-a-month, bi-monthly or every Sunday. We need people to usher, serve or clean-up coffee, greet at the Welcome Desk, set-up or clean-up communion, and/or become part of our hospitality team that hosts special events. It is a great first step in getting to know people. On the job training!
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Helping the Pastors and Worship Team create a worshipful ambiance within the Sanctuary is so appreciated. Ushers distribute bulletins as people arrive and maintain a comfortable, safe environment within the Sanctuary. Ushers also assist with the congregation’s offering by “passing the plates” and are trained safety team members.Sign-up Today!
Volunteers respond to the information needs of attendees, visitors and outside inquiries in many ways. Directing a new family to the correct Sunday school class, responding to a question with literature, helping someone to sign up for an upcoming event – this is a ministry for those who enjoy being with people and making them feel heard and cared for.Sign-up Today!
Homemade bread is part of our tradition. Some are bakers and find the ritual of Communion Bread baking very meaningful. Others prefer to prepare the elements on Sunday morning by cutting the bread, pouring the juice and overseeing table setting. Still others enjoy the cleaning up and storing of the silver. All do this in remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us.Sign-up Today!
Those who don’t mind making phone calls and enjoy inviting newcomers to special occasions find this ministry very rewarding. We routinely email or call newcomers to welcome them to FCC and to help them get connected to all our community has to offer.Sign-up Today!
Hospitality is all about connecting. The folks who are part of this team have the gift of hospitality and look forward to using their gifts for decorating, food preparation, and serving that are a part of the various celebrations that take place at FCC.Sign-up Today!
The most visible team on this ministry. They prepare fresh ground gourmet coffee in hopes that you will sense God’s welcome. Smiling faces will serve you while the others will stay after the last cup has been poured to wash the pots.Sign-up Today!
This Old Church is a group of volunteers that meet weekly (Friday 9-12), for the purpose of assisting the property manager with building maintenance issues. We patch, paint, repair, move furniture, landscape, problem solve building issues, etc. Basically, we are a sweat equity team, striving to keep the buildings and grounds in good repair and within budget. If you have a few hours to spare, come join us. If Friday hours don’t work for you, speak with Lorna anyway. There is always something that needs to be done and we can find the right time and place for you to serve.Join Today!
